Social Networking in Government

Last month, Saba, in collaboration with the Human Capital Institute, released a groundbreaking three-part research series on social networking in government.  The study upon which the papers are based, was conducted throughout the last half of 2009 and involved surveys and interviews with government leaders across the country, involving more than 600 individuals. Interviews were conducted with those who are currently leveraging social networks for strategic knowledge sharing across their departments and agencies.   The research explores:

• How many (and which) SN tools are being currently used in government workplaces;
• The current effectiveness and future importance of SN tools to carry out key talent management and performance functions in various government workplaces;
• The critical barriers to the implementation and expansion of the tools in government — as well as the best practices for overcoming these barriers.

Social networking and social network analysis hold great promise for government talent management. These reports and our own upcoming webcast and available analysis services will give you the spectrum of what you need to know and do in this important arena.
